Coen is one of the founders of Plain Vanilla. Since then he has been responsible for the industrial and asset-heavy companies that Plain Vanilla has acquired over the years. These investments include the acquisition and turnaround of Steenland Chocolate, the first investment that Plain Vanilla made in 2003 and for which Coen remained responsible until the exit in 2012. Furthermore, Coen has developed the start-up company StatiqCooling from an idea into a company supplying state-of-the-art air-cooling equipment. Since 2013 Coen, has been responsible for the investment in Switch Datacenters where he is a member of the management team, managing the company’s growth from one to three data centres in 2017.
Before joining Plain Vanilla, Coen worked at Business Creation Europe from 2001 until 2003. Coen started his career in 1995, at Akzo Nobel, where he fulfilled various financial management roles.
Coen holds a Master’s degree in Financial Economics from University of Amsterdam and is a Certified Management Accountant from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam
